Devotionals with Forward Day by Day
A key part of a healthy spiritual life is regular, faithful practices. For many Christians this sort of practice takes the form of a daily devotional. These devotions might include reading Scripture, prayer for oneself and others, reflection on stories of other faithful persons, or some combination of these things along with others. In The Episcopal Church we have the Daily Office in the Prayer Book which is provides a great, anciently rooted form of daily devotions. However, with our busy lives it can be hard to commit to something like the Daily Office as a form of daily devotions, especially if we are just getting started doing these sorts of things.
Luckily, Forward Movement (a ministry of The Episcopal Church) has a wonderful resource here throughForward Day by Day. You may have actually seen the print version of this resource in the church building before! Available in booklet form and digitally, Forward Day by Day takes all the devotional elements mentioned above and offers them in a brief, highly digestible format. Each meditation fromForward Day by Day includes a short Scriptural reading, a small reflection, a question to think about based on each as you go through your day, and a prayer for one of The Episcopal Church’s partners across the world.
Daily meditations from Forward Day by Day are easy to access through several means which are listed below. If you don’t have a daily devotional practice, consider giving this one a try. It’s short, free, and a good way to center yourself in faith each day.
