GHTC Parishioners Make Life-Saving Masks

In ten days, 565 surgical mask covers have been created by local costume professionals.

Leslie Winn, who owns The Costume Shop with Ivy Austin, and Marcia Hailey, a costumer at VA Rep, are providing an essential service to VCU Health. Using surgical sheets, the three GHTC parishioners have been cutting and sewing since March 24.

“These are mask covers for regular surgical masks that can be washed and reused. The material is CDC approved and has been provided by VCU Health,” said Winn. “Until factories are set up to provide cut fabric and create kits, we are providing a consistent product.”

Three other local costume pros have joined the GHTC parishioners in the project. All are working from home and practicing social distancing. “There’s no end in sight to the demand at this time,” according to Winn.

Grace and Holy Trinity Church is proud of these talented pros who are giving back to the community in a time of need. Please keep them in your prayers!
