Red Door Ministry Message on Donations
Grace & Holy Trinity’s Red Door Ministry will not be accepting donations through the remainder of July and throughout the month of August. Donations will be accepted again beginning in September. If you’d like to help or volunteer with Red Door please select “Red Door Volunteer Contact” at ghtc.org/contact.
School Supply Drive Begins
Beginning Sunday, August 6th, we will begin our School Supply Drive. We invite your donations of classic school supplies for 2nd through 8th graders, especially dry erase markers, notebook paper, pencils, pens, and tissues. Clergy will bless the donations before turning the donations over to the participating school.
New Parking Permit Cards will be at the Connect Table
A new parking permit card was included in the bulletin and distributed on Sunday, July 2nd. If you did not receive one, additional permits are permanently located at the Connect Table. This new permit includes an updated QR code that will allow you to park in the VCU West Main Street parking deck, and the card itself will also allow you to park in the lot behind the church and in any on-street permitted parking. Please note that the old permit cards included a QR code for the VCU parking deck that expired on June 30th, 2023.

Worship
Children’s Chapel Continues During 10:30 a.m. Service
Over the summer months, Sunday School carries on as Children’s Chapel during the 10:30 a.m. service. The Children’s Breakfast and Children’s Choir are both on pause for the summer. Parents and children alike will gather in the church to begin worship together, and then children are invited to head up to Children’s Chapel with their teachers. This summer we will follow a child-led curriculum as we explore the questions they have about the faith. A snack will be provided each morning – let Mrs. Kate Given know if your child has any dietary restrictions. We ask that a parent of each Sunday School child come up to the Sunday School room to pick up their child(ren) following the service.
Parish Prayer List Now Available in Sunday Worship Bulletin
Thanks to the ministry of The Rev. Stephen McGehee, a carefully curated and regularly updated parish prayer list is now being printed in the Sunday morning worship bulletin. In order to keep the Prayer List current and to facilitate the intentionality and mindfulness with which we pray, we print names on the Prayer List for three months or less. If you would like to add a name to the Prayer List, please contact Lauren Frazier in the parish office. Please be sure to ask the person you would like to add to the list for their consent.
Parish Life
Prayer Shawl Knitters’ Summer Project
Looking for a fun and prayerful summertime project? Join parishioner Betsy Featherstone as she continues to knit prayer shawls for members of our community in need of prayer and comfort. Betsy has many delicious colors of yarn to share and a pattern to follow, and she promises that the shawls are very easy to knit. If you would like to join this prayerful project, contact Betsy.
Spirited Readers Book Club
You are invited to join the Spirited Readers Book Club, which meets on Monday afternoons once a month at a parishioner’s home. Upcoming books include Demon Cooperhead (Barbara Kingsolver), Hold Still (Sally Mann), This is Happiness (Niall Williams) and Trust (Herman Diaz). For more information, contact Mary Ann Blankenship.
Other Communications
Beware of Phishing and Other Scams
Please beware of any communication (email, phone calls, texts) purporting to be from members of our clergy, staff, or from someone communicating on our behalf. No member of the Grace & Holy Trinity clergy or staff will ever contact you asking you “for a favor,” such as purchasing gift cards. These are tactics used by scammers, and they are more common than you might think. Please be cautious and use good judgment.
Help Us Share Your News
We invite you to share your announcements about ministries of the parish by visiting our website and submitting the communications request form no later than the Monday two weeks before you want your announcement to run in the weekly eNews and the bulletin announcements.
