* Childcare will be provided on Christmas Eve from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for up to age 7. There will be no childcare on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The church offices will be closed from December 26th, 2022 – January 2nd, 2023.

Worship

Christmas Memorial Poinsettias
As we prepare for Christmas, we invite you to make a donation for one or more poinsettias in memory of someone who is deceased. Please visit our Give page and select the “memorial” fund, and enter your loved one’s name in the “note” section. The cost is whatever you would like to contribute, and the memorial names will be printed in the Christmas Eve bulletins. The deadline to submit is December 11th. Your donations support the work of the Altar Guild. You may also contact Judy Bowman in the church office at (804) 359-5628 x14.

Harvest on the Altar
This Sunday’s Harvest Table is given in remembrance of the glory of God, and in loving memory of Charles Edward Crawford, Charles Edward Crawford, Jr., Lillian Matthews Crawford, Nell Crawford, Andrew L. Strother, Nora Clark Young, Alexander Wycliff Braconsdale, Paul Williamson Howle, Adeline Green Howle, Hugo Osterhaus Stevens, Adeline Howle Stevens, by Mason Stevens. If you would like to remember or honor a loved one by giving the altar flowers, please contact Judy Bowman at 804-359-5628 (ext. 14), with dates and specific requests (such as colors and/or particular flowers). The cost is $100. You may mail a check or handle the cost online at ghtc.org/give.

Parish Life

Parents’ Night Out Recap – January 6 Registration
Thanks to all of the parents who joined Paul and Duane at the Quirk Hotel for Parents’ Night Out on Friday, November 11th. The children played games, had a music lesson, learned about parables, and enjoyed Disney classic Robin Hood. You can register for the next Parents’ Night Out on Friday, January 6th, 2023 online.

Men’s Group Coffee – November 19
The Men’s Group will meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 19th at Ellwood Thompson’s in Carytown. A variety of coffee options, bagels, and pastries are available for purchase at the cafe. No agenda, but a simple get together.

Baby Shower for Paul & Molly Evans – December 4

Associate Rector The Rev. Paul Evans and his wife Molly are expecting a baby boy in January. There will be a baby shower to support them as they become parents. Please join us after the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, December 4th in the parish hall for a light reception to celebrate Paul and Molly and baby boy Evans. If you would like to purchase a gift from their registry, you can do so here.

Volunteers Needed for Parish Workday – December 10
The Property Committee is seeking volunteers for the next parish workday on Saturday, December 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. You can sign up to help online or in person this Sunday by speaking with Property Committee member Andrew Peacock.

Pledge Drive – Thank You
Thank you to those who have submitted a pledge towards the 2023 parish budget. In total, you all have made 181 pledges. Thank you to David Lewis, Dan McNamara, Meredith McGuire, Clay Hilbert, Ibby New, and Jodie Pully for their wonderful reflections in support of the Pledge Drive. Although our annual pledge drive has concluded, you are still able to submit a pledge by visiting our website at ghtc.org/pledge. Calling all Rams: VCU Hoops vs. UMass – January 17
Parishioners who are VCU alumni are invited to join the Campus Ministry for a Rams basketball game on Tuesday, January 17th. The night will include a tour of the development center (which rivals some NFL and NBA training facilities,) photo opportunities with Rodney the Ram, and of course, the ball game versus UMass. If you attended VCU and would like to attend, please register and sign up for event email updates online.

Outreach

Red Door Thanksgiving with Shood – November 25
Shood will be here on Friday, November 25th, to give slightly used reconditioned athletic shoes to our Red Door visitors at noon. Shood is a non-profit founded by GHTC parishioner Robin Telfian, and operated in partnership with Jeff Wells, owner of two Fleet Feet stores in the area.

Red Door Ministry Coat & Glove Drive
As the winter months approach, Red Door is seeking donations of coats, gloves, and scarves for Richmonders in need. Please drop off any new or gently used winter gear at the service ministry box between the elevator and the kitchen.
