Think about Big Questions with “Closer to Truth”
The Easter season calls us to think about a lot of big questions in life, particularly questions about our ultimate destinies. If Jesus saves us, what does he save us from and why? Moreover, what does that salvation actually mean for us, and how does it relate to this resurrection that Jesus talks about (and experiences himself)?
You can learn more about these big questions (among other ones) through PBS’s Closer to Truth series. On Closer to Truth Robert Lawrence Kuhn interviews leading thinkers in theology, philosophy, and science like Sarah Coakley (Anglican priest and Emeritus Norris-Hulse Professor of Divinity at the University of Cambridge), the late John Polkinghorne (former Anglican priest and Professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge), and Eleonore Stump (Robert J. Henle, SJ Professor of Philosophy at St. Louis University). Through these interviews they share insights on questions like “Why a Body in a Resurrection?,” “Will God ‘Save’ the Cosmos?,” and “Do Heaven and Hell Really Exist?”
You can watch Closer to Truth interviews in their entirety and get the views of multiple thinkers on a single question, or you can watch parts of each show segmented out by topic and interviewee. These interviews are a great and accessible way to stimulate your mind and provoke deeper religious thought, so take a look at the topic categories below or explore the Closer to Truth website yourself.
