Palm Sunday with Palms & Ponies – April 2

On Palm Sunday, April 2nd, everyone will gather at 10:30 a.m in Monroe Park for a Palm Procession in celebration of Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem at the beginning of Holy Week. The Procession itself is part of the 10:30 a.m. service, and all parishioners are invited to participate. Families are invited to gather with their children as early as 10:10 a.m. to visit the ponies who will be part of the Palm Procession. Two ponies will lead us, we will sing hymns, and the children will take turns as riders, just as Jesus entered Jerusalem riding a colt.

Raising the Alleluias – April 9

At the beginning of Lent, we buried the Alleluia banner in the columbarium after the Jazz Service, because during Lent, the “Alleluias” are not said in church. When the joyful day of Easter arrives, we raise the Alleluia once again. All the children are invited to gather at the columbarium at 10:25 a.m. on Easter Sunday and help to resurrect the banner. Then the children are invited to carry the Alleluia in the Easter procession, returning this symbol to life in the liturgy.

Easter Egg Hunt – April 9

Join us in Monroe Park following the 10:30 a.m. service on Easter Sunday, April 9th, for the Easter Egg Hunt. All children are invited to attend – bring your own Easter basket, and have at it!

Volunteer Easter Bunnies Needed

Filling Easter Eggs – April 5

On Tuesday, April 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., we need to fill the Easter Eggs for our Easter Sunday Egg Hunt after church. Donuts will be provided for the helpful Easter Bunnies. Join our Children & Young Families Minister, Kate Given at church to stuff the eggs. Reach out to Kate Given if you want to participate.

Hiding Easter Eggs – April 9

Early on Easter Sunday morning, we need volunteer egg-hiding Easter Bunnies between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. We’ll meet in front of the church and hide the eggs in Monroe Park for the Hunt that follows the 10:30 a.m. service. Please contact Kate Given to tell her you’ll be there.

Parking

Please consider leaving the parking behind the church for families with mobility issues or very young children. The VCU parking deck gates at West Main Street will be up and open all day on Christmas Eve providing plenty of parking within a short walk of the church.
