b'come close to it. In the season of Advent, our Childrens Ministry is pleased to provide ways to get ready for the mystery of Christmas. Each family will receive a devotional guide to help them walk through the season of Advent and grow in faith together, and in the parish, the childrens art will help mark the journey to Bethlehem as we add to our Jesse Tree each week. Duane Nettles, talked about his life and work in post-Katrina New Orleans. Duane described his work helping to rebuild New Orleans, including his ministry at the Free Church of the Annunciation (Episcopal) as Executive Director of the churchs nonprofit, The Annunciation Mission. In November, Associate Rector Paul Evans shared about his faith journey including a Summer 2008 pilgrimageThe Rev. Sarah Kye Priceduring which he sailed from Norway to Ireland including a stop at Iona, the small island in the Inner Hebrides where St. Columba brought Christianity to the British Isles. Charles Austin JoyCo mmun i onPrepIn October, the older elementary-age children in our parish gathered with Mrs. Kate Given and The Rev. Paul Evans to learn about the sacrament of Holy Communion. They learned about the different parts of our church service and got to enjoy a special instructed Holy Communion, just for them. They made special banners to commemorate what they learned about communion. On All Saints Sunday, they processed into church with those banners and got to see the table set for communion up close as they knelt at the altar. For some of the children, it was their first time receiving the sacrament.Pa re ntsNight OutOur successful Parents Night Out series continues apace! During each PNO we provide Christian education and fellowship for their children at the church as their parents enjoy a night out to themselves. After sharing a meal, the children hear a Bible story and attend music time. In November, the children learned about Parables, while parents gathered at the Quirk Hotel lobby bar with Duane and Paul where they enjoyed drinks and conversation before heading off to dinner on their own.
