b'associaterectors messageNow faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible. Hebrews 11:1-3When I first arrived at Grace & Holy this summer, I read through the history of the parish, and was immediately struck by the story of what took place on the morning of June 1 st , 1924. Grace Church, once located at the corner of Main and Foushee Streets, had fallen on hard times and was forced to close itsdoors. But this was not the end of the story. After assembling one last time, the people of Grace Church walked westward as a body towards Laurel Street, where the people of Holy Trinity Church awaited them, welcoming them into what became the merged parish of Grace & Holy Trinity Church (GHTC).WhatwasseenbybothcongregationswasthatGodwascallingthemto something new. What was not seen was what it would look like. And yet, in faith, they went forward trusting in God, who is always doing something new. As we begin the program year together under Duanes leadership, I invite you to take time to remember what God has done through the faith of the people of Grace and Holy Trinity Church. Pray about what God is doing in our church today. And most importantly, imagine what God will do with us and through us as our ministry goes forward into a new program year.
