What is Red Door Ministry?

Since the early 1980s, Grace & Holy Trinity Church has been serving the hungry, homeless, and houseless around Richmond. Started by the women of the congregation as a soup kitchen, the ministry has expanded to one of healing, hospitality and wholeness. The Red Door strives to care for the whole person in body, mind and spirit.

The Red Door Ministry is always thinking of ways the church can help the guests we feed every Friday, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The clothing closet continues to collect socks, men’s underwear in medium to extra large sizes, jeans, toiletries, and plastic grocery bags. We currently feed approximately 100 individuals every Friday.

How can I help?

We welcome volunteers to help with cooking, set up, and cleanup at Red Door on a one-time or ongoing basis. Youth are welcome. Volunteers need to be at least 16 years old to work in the kitchen but jobs are available for all ages. Volunteers under age 16 should be accompanied by a guardian. For more information and to sign up, please use the contact form and select “Red Door Coordinator” from the drop-down menu. Thank you for volunteering!
