Graduating Senior Recognition at Children & Youth Sunday – This Sunday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m.

On Sunday, May 10th we will have a special Children & Youth Sunday in honor of our graduating seniors. All children and youth are invited to serve, and we will recognize our graduates during the service. If you have a senior in your family who wants to participate, please let Madeleine know.

Mother’s Day Bouquet Pickup with the Belize Mission Team – This Sunday, May 10

Celebrate the mothers in your life with a beautiful bouquet made by the Belize Mission Team in support of the Belize Summer Camp. If you have ordered flowers, you can pick them up this Sunday, May 10th, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

Church Listening Sessions – Next Sunday, May 17 at 9:30 a.m. and Online at 7:00 p.m.

Beloved GHTC fellow parishioners, we have asked ourselves discerning questions during the last seven years: Who are we? What is important to us? How do we serve Christ and our neighbors? How do we serve each other? This spring your vestry has hosted a few Listening Sessions to address some of those questions. The remaining sessions will be Sunday, May 17th at 9:30 a.m. during the Adult Forum, and then online at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Scaffolding in Sanctuary – Begins on Wednesday, May 20

An investigation will begin Wednesday, May 20th to explore our sanctuary’s roof. Do not fear, neither the sky nor the roof are falling. To do this task, two small sections of scaffolding will be put in the sanctuary. One will be placed near the front of the sanctuary over two rows of pews between the column and the north wall. Scaffolding will also be put in place over the baptismal font between the column and south wall. This work will allow the contractor to visually inspect the beams’ structure. We plan to still worship in the sanctuary during this investigation and intentionally chose the summertime to do this work when life is slower at church. Thank you for your understanding and patience. 

Dedicate a Hymnal – Giving Ends on Friday, May 15

As we work on replacing some of our old hymnals, we invite parishioners to donate a hymnal to the church in honor of a family member or loved one. Every donated hymnal will have a nameplate with the name of the person in whose honor it was given. The suggested donation is $30, and the deadline to give is Friday, May 15th. To give a hymnal, please go to ghtc.org/give, go to “Give Now,” select “Hymnal Donation” from the drop down menu, and use the memo line for the name of the person you would like to honor. 

Belize Summer Camp Planning Meeting #2 – Sunday, May 17 at 11:45 a.m.

The Belize Mission Team will hold our second station planning meeting on Sunday, May 17th at 11:45 in the first floor classroom. Refreshments provided. The remaining session will be Part 3 – Logistics for Belize Summer Camp 2026 Travelers and held at a later date to be announced.

Greater Richmond Children’s Choir Spring Concert – Sunday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m.

The Greater Richmond Children’s Choir (GRCC), led by Artistic Director Crystal Jonkman, will present a spring concert on Sunday, May 17th at 4:00 p.m. in the church. Admission is free.

Get to Know Circles RVA!: Partner Breakfast – Thursday, May 21 at 9:00 a.m.

Circles RVA is hosting a breakfast at Grace & Holy Trinity Church to invite current and potential partners in the Richmond region who want to learn more about the work of our organization. We will gather in the Parish Hall at 9:00 a.m. and review our recipe for change, the work we have been doing for the past 8 years, and what we hope to do for the future. Click here to RSVP.

Youth Volunteers Wanted at Red Door Ministry

The Red Door ministry is in need of volunteers for the summer, and all youth are encouraged to come on Fridays from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. to help out. (Lunch is available at 11:00 a.m. for all volunteers, and if you would like to volunteer for the entirety of 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. you are welcome to.) Youth need to be sixteen or older to work in the kitchen but there are jobs for all ages. This is a great way to complete community service hours for school. Youth under sixteen should be accompanied by a guardian. If you’re interested, please reach out to Andrew Peacock or go to ghtc.org/contact and select “Red Door Coordinator” from the drop down menu.

Holy Strollers walks Bryan Park – Friday, June 19

The Holy Strollers will explore Bryan Park on Friday, June 19th. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources says the park is a premier site for bird-watching in Richmond. Pastoral Care Phone Number
A Pastoral Care Line is active for parishioners experiencing a pastoral emergency when the church office is closed. The on-call number is (804) 322-3758. Please save this number to your phone’s contact list. Voice and text messages can be left at this number. The pastoral care team is comprised of our clergy and two staff members. We want to make sure we can connect to support our parishioners in any time of need.

Please Wear Your Name Tags
This is a gentle reminder to please wear your name tags when you come to church. Grace & Holy Trinity is fortunate to have visitors and new parishioners joining us each week. Wearing your nametag is an important part of our hospitality to all and a visible reminder to newcomers and lifelong members alike that we are an open and welcoming community. Please pick up your name tags along the wall in the hallway as you enter from the Cherry Street parking lot, and please leave them there when you leave church. If you need a name tag for the first time or if you have misplaced yours, please contact Communications Associate Tyler Brady by visiting ghtc.org/contact.

Beware of Phishing & Other Scams
Please beware of any communication (email, phone calls, texts) purporting to be from members of our clergy, staff, or someone communicating on our behalf. No member of the Grace & Holy Trinity clergy or staff will ever contact you asking you “for a favor,” such as purchasing gift cards. Scammers use these tactics and are more common than you might think. Please be cautious and use good judgment.

Get Involved with The Pace Center this Semester
The Pace Center, our covenant partner for campus ministry, is an inclusive, multicultural community at VCU where students’ unique stories and gifts are valued. As a collaborative ministry of several Christian denominations, it emphasizes the importance of deep relationships and the inherent value of each individual. Please visit thepacecenter.com for more information on Pace’s upcoming events and how you can support students in our community.

The Pace Center appreciates donations of snacks, baked goods, and soup. You can sign up here. In addition to food donations, The Pace Center welcomes and invites GHTC parishioners to participate in any (or all) of the following:

• Stories & Lunch | Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m.; Share in a meal and a common
  story theme.
• Volunteer at Belmont Community Resource Services | Fridays from 9:00 p.m.–
  12:00 p.m.; Meet at Pace (700 W. Franklin Street) and join a group of students volunteering at BCRS (a 17-minute drive from campus). Belmont serves over 500 families on Friday mornings. Please note that this event takes place outdoors (rain or shine!); dress accordingly.
• Walk A Dog | Fridays at 2:00 p.m.; Make new friends while walking dogs together. Bring your dog with you, or just show up for a nice walk with college-aged students
• Strings N Things (Crochet & Knitting) | Fridays from 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.; Bring your fiber arts project, or learn a new craft. Beginners (and experts willing to teach) welcome!
