Scaffolding in Sanctuary – Began on Wednesday, May 20
An investigation began on Wednesday, May 20th to explore our sanctuary’s roof. This work will allow the contractor to visually inspect the beams’ structure. Two sections of scaffolding have been put in the sanctuary. It was declared necessary to remove some pews for the scaffolding’s stability and to protect those pews. Scaffolding is placed over the baptismal font between the column and south wall. Scaffolding is also placed on the opposite side between that column and the north wall. We can still access through all the doors in and out of the sacristy area. We will continue to worship in the sanctuary. We intentionally chose the summertime to do this work when our church life is slower. Thank you for your patience.
Youth Volunteers Wanted at Red Door Ministry
The Red Door ministry is in need of volunteers for the summer, and all youth are encouraged to come on Fridays from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. to help out. (Lunch is available at 11:00 a.m. for all volunteers, and if you would like to volunteer for the entirety of 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m. you are welcome to.) Youth need to be sixteen or older to work in the kitchen but there are jobs for all ages. This is a great way to complete community service hours for school. Youth under sixteen should be accompanied by a guardian. If you’re interested, please reach out to Andrew Peacock or go to ghtc.org/contact and select “Red Door Coordinator” from the drop down menu.
VCU Begins Replacing Elevators at Main Street Deck
VCU has begun replacing elevators in the Main Street Deck. They will start with the elevator at the corner of the deck at Main and Laurel (their most heavily used). Once that is finished, they will close the elevator at the corner of the deck at Main and Cherry. One elevator will remain functional at a time. This work should be finished by the end of September.
Holy Strollers walks Bryan Park – Friday, June 19
The Holy Strollers will explore Bryan Park on Friday, June 19th. The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources says the park is a premier site for bird-watching in Richmond. The carpool leaves the GHTC parking lot at 9:00 a.m. If you have any questions or plan to come please contact Susan Hankins by visiting ghtc.org/contact and select “Holy Strollers” from the form’s drop-down menu.
Come and Sing in the Summer Choir!
The Summer Choir will lead the music at the 10:30 a.m. worship services from June 7th–September 6th. Singers may join at any time during the summer. We will rehearse on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. in the Choir Room. Come and share your musical gifts with us! If you are interested in singing in the Summer Choir, please contact Beth Davis by visiting ghtc.org/contact and select “Choirmaster & Organist” from the form’s drop-down menu.

Please Wear Your Name Tags
This is a gentle reminder to please wear your name tags when you come to church. Grace & Holy Trinity is fortunate to have visitors and new parishioners joining us each week. Wearing your nametag is an important part of our hospitality to all and a visible reminder to newcomers and lifelong members alike that we are an open and welcoming community. Please pick up your name tags along the wall in the hallway as you enter from the Cherry Street parking lot, and please leave them there when you leave church. If you need a name tag for the first time or if you have misplaced yours, please contact Communications Associate Tyler Brady by visiting ghtc.org/contact.
Beware of Phishing & Other Scams
Please beware of any communication (email, phone calls, texts) purporting to be from members of our clergy, staff, or someone communicating on our behalf. No member of the Grace & Holy Trinity clergy or staff will ever contact you asking you “for a favor,” such as purchasing gift cards. Scammers use these tactics and are more common than you might think. Please be cautious and use good judgment.
