Welcome to Luke Brennan
Our Next Assistant Choirmaster & Organist
We are very excited to welcome Luke Brennan, our new Assistant Choirmaster and Organist, to Grace & Holy Trinity! Luke will begin his ministry with us on June 9th. We look forward to introducing him to you and know you will enjoy meeting and getting to know him over the summer.
“Hi everyone! My name is Luke Brennan, and I am writing to formally declare myself as Assistant Choirmaster and Organist at Grace & Holy Trinity Church. I am absolutely delighted to begin the next chapter of my musical journey here, and I look forward to meeting all of you very soon.” – Luke Brennan
Luke is originally from northern Virginia. Having moved to Richmond in January of this year, Luke was anxious to connect with other organists in the Richmond area. He was excited to soon discover the posting for the Assistant Choirmaster and Organist position at Grace & Holy Trinity. Following Luke’s interview and audition with the Music Committee, we were confident that he was the ideal candidate for the position.
Luke comes to us from Christ Church, New Haven, Connecticut, and has a strong Episcopal background. He is also a member of the American Guild of Organists. Aside from music, Luke played intramural soccer and was a member of the German Club while at Yale University.
Luke’s credentials are quite impressive! He received a Master of Music Degree in Organ Performance from Yale University, a Bachelor of Music Degree in Organ Performance from Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from the University of Rochester. He was a German Language DAAD Scholar at Die Universität Tübingen in Tübingen, Germany. Luke also served as an Organ Scholar at Christ Church in New Haven, Connecticut, and as a VanDelinder Fellow (Organ Scholar) at Christ Church in Rochester, New York. He has studied, accompanied, and performed extensively in Connecticut, New York, Maryland, and Virginia. He has also performed internationally in many European cities, including at the Cathedrale Notre Dame in Paris, France, Basilica di San Marco in Milan, Italy, and at the Mozarteum Concert Hall in Salzburg, Austria.
Luke is an accomplished and experienced organist and church musician and will be a wonderful asset to our music ministry at Grace & Holy Trinity. Luke will assist me with service playing, accompanying and directing the Parish Choir. He will also lead the Youth Instrumental Ensemble and accompany the Children’s Choir. We look forward to having Luke on our music ministry staff.
Special thanks to our dedicated and hard-working Music Committee: Sandie Hale, Megan Lecky, Marshall Morton, Courtney Scottow, Father Brent and Leslie Winn. We are very grateful for their gifts of time and talent and for their support of the music ministry at Grace & Holy Trinity.
