Pentecost: Bishop’s Visit and Confirmation

Recapping the celebration of Pentecost on Sunday, June 5, 2022

At the 10:30 a.m. service on June 5th, The Rt. Rev. Susan Goff, Suffragan Bishop of Virginia and Ecclesiastical Authority, presided and preached, and baptized and confirmed more than a dozen children, youth, and adults. In preparation for this milestone, the confirmands have participated in monthly retreats to study Christianity, the Episcopal Church, and membership in this parish.

Special music featured the James River Brass, including Parry’s “I Was Glad” sung by the Parish Choir with brass and organ accompaniment. At the same service the graduating seniors among the parish also received the blessing of the Bishop. The Altar Guild arranged the flowers to look like tongues of fire for Pentecost. A reception followed in the Parish Hall.
