Commonwealth Concert Opera: Wagner
On August 13th at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall the Commonwealth Concert Opera offered an evening of Scenes and Arias from the operas of Richard Wagner. Promising young professional singers joined seasoned veterans, soprano Caroline Whisnant and tenor James Taylor, accompanied by pianist Charles Staples and narrator Reese Williams.
The performance included arias “Dich teure Halle” from Tannhäuser, “Notung, neidliches schwert” from Siegfried, “In fernem Land” from Lohengrin, and the Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde. Additionally, performers sing duets from Tannhäuser and the epic Love Duet from Die Walkűre.
We hope you joined us for this evening of great music that was made more accessible by narration, providing context for each scene.
