Chapel Organ Dedication: Choral Evensong

On Sunday, February 26th, 2023, at a special service of Choral Evensong, a new Allen Historique IIG organ for the Gibson Memorial Chapel at Grace & Holy Trinity was dedicated. The new Chapel Organ was generously donated by Cathy Saunders in memory of her late husband, Alan, who passed away last year. This electronic organ has 34 stops and nine complete stop lists including English Cathedral, Cavaillé-Coll which is well suited for French music, and Arp Schnitger which is well suited for Bach and other baroque music. It also contains many additional stops such as chimes, harpsichord, grand piano, carillon, chimes, and solo stops such as tuba, trumpet, oboe, english horn, french horn, clarinet, and festival trumpet which will work well for wedding processionals, recessionals, and fanfares for the bride’s entrance. This lovely Chapel Organ will be a blessing to our worship and music ministry at Grace & Holy Trinity.

The plaque placed near the Chapel Organ reads:

Eve of the Festival Day of George Herbert
February 26, 2023
This Allen organ was given
to the glory of God
and in loving memory of
Alan Gregory Saunders
by his wife, Cathy Saunders,
honoring their marriage in this chapel
on November 19th, 1977,
and dedicated by The Reverend Duane Nettles, Rector,
during a service of Evening Prayer.

Please note: The Chapel Organ Dedication was not publicized to the parish due to limited seating in the Gibson Memorial Chapel. On Sunday, May 14th at 9:30 a.m., there will be a special 30-minute concert featuring the new chapel organ.
