Highlights
Front Porch Forum Dinner – Saturday, April 18 at 5:00 p.m.
Led by Sylvia May, a parishioner, choir member, and chef, our final forum dinner of 2026 will be on Saturday, April 18th. Guests will arrive at GHTC after 5:00 p.m. and dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. Richmond Forum doors open at 7:00 p.m., so dinner will end by 7:15 p.m. Registration has closed.
VCU Convocation Recital with Strings & Piano – Tuesday, April 21 from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m.
Join us for a 50-minute recital of VCU string and piano students on Tuesday, April 21st at 12:30 p.m. in the sanctuary! The program will include solo performers and chamber music groups from the VCU Music Department. All are invited to attend, free of charge. This will be a wonderful opportunity for musical collaboration between VCU’s Music Department and Grace & Holy Trinity.
Volunteers Needed for Stories & Lunch at The Pace Center – Wednesday, April 22
Volunteers needed! GHTC has once again accepted the invitation from The Pace Center to provide lunch for about 60 VCU students on Wednesday, April 22nd at noon. Volunteers will begin cooking about an hour before serving lunch.
The Stories & Lunch program involves churches and other organizations from throughout the Richmond community taking turns to provide free lunches for VCU students at the center on Wednesdays throughout the school year. The lunches offer the students the opportunity to have “home cooked” meals in a welcoming atmosphere around tables where discussion is encouraged. The volunteers involved have fun preparing the lunch and are invited to have lunch with the students. Parents Night Out – Friday, April 24 at 5:00 p.m.
Our next Parents’ Night Out will be on Friday, April 24th from 5:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m. All children and youth are invited to the church for dinner, games, and a movie. The evening will include help from the Belize Summer Camp team. The parents’ meeting location will be announced soon. Please register your child here by Monday, April 20th.
WomanKind with Lisa Sharon Harper at St. James’s – Friday, April 24 & Saturday, April 25
The women of St. James’s Episcopal Church invite you to “One Body,” a transformative, two-day conference exploring themes of faith and the vital roles of women in the church and broader society. The event will feature internationally recognized author, activist, and speaker Lisa Sharon Harper as the keynote. Ms. Harper will explore what it means to be “One Body” and how we can pursue God’s intent for wholeness in all relationships. For questions or to register click here.
Confirmation & Holy Eucharist with Baptism and Bishop’s Visit – Sunday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. Worship
Bishop E. Mark Stevenson of the Diocese of Virginia will lead 10:30 a.m worship on Sunday, April 26th, baptizing and confirming GHTC’s candidates during the service. There will be a reception following the worship service.
DCM Nonviolent Resistance Training Workshop at Second Presbyterian Church – Sunday, April 26 at 1:30 p.m.
Come learn, connect, and explore how faith communities can support one another and respond with nonviolence, solidarity, and care. This interactive workshop covers the following:
- First hour (1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.): Overview on what is happening in Richmond with ways for individuals and congregations to plug into ongoing efforts; learning practical skills and including how to form mutual aid networks and neighborhood response groups.
- Second hour (2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.): Introduction to verifier training and de-escalation techniques to help communities respond safely and responsibly in tense situations.
This free workshop is hosted by the Downtown Community Ministry churches and taught by the Richmond Peace Education Center. Registration required only for childcare, please scan the QR Code. Free parking in the church garage located at 13 N. 5th Street.

Applications for Endowment Scholarships Due Sunday, May 3
Through the Grace & Holy Trinity Endowment Fund and the Mason Memorial Fund, GHTC provides need-based scholarships to active members of the Parish. The grants support tuition to independent schools, colleges, and graduate schools. The funds are administered through the Scholarship Committee, chaired by Billy McGuire. Holy Eucharist with “Mass No. 3 in B-flat Major” by Franz Schubert – Sunday, May 3 at 10:30 a.m. Worship
The Parish Choir will present Schubert’s beautiful “Mass No. 3 in B-flat Major” with a 14-piece chamber ensemble and organ at the 10:30 a.m worship service on Sunday, May 3rd. Soloists will include Keely Borland and Caroline Whisnant, Sopranos, Abigail Stinnett, Alto, David Maier, Tenor, and Chase Peak, Bass. The Mass will be accompanied by Luke Brennan, and conducted by Dr. Elizabeth Melcher Davis and sung within the context of Holy Eucharist. The offering will go towards the Hill Brown Music Scholars Fund, and there will be a reception, hosted by the Hospitality Committee, following worship.

ECW Diocesan Spring Meeting – Tuesday, May 5 at 9:00 a.m.
The Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of the Diocese of Virginia will have their Spring Meeting on Tuesday, May 5th at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church (9000 St. Martin’s Lane) in Richmond. The meeting will start at 9:00 a.m. Speaker Dr. Mark Biddle will present “De-Mystifying the Bible” at 10:00 a.m. followed by Eucharist and lunch. The registration fee is $25 and the deadline to register is Wednesday, April 28th. Please visit ecwvirginia.org/events to register. Graduating Senior Recognition at Children & Youth Sunday – Sunday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m.
Sunday, May 10th marks the end of the program year, and we will have a special Children & Youth Sunday in honor of our graduating seniors. All children and youth are invited to serve, and we will recognize our graduates during the service. If you have a senior in your family who wants to participate, please let Madeleine know.

A Pastoral Care Line is now active for parishioners experiencing a pastoral emergency when the church office is closed. The on-call number is (804) 322-3758. Please save this number to your phone’s contact list. Voice and text messages can be left at this number. The pastoral care team is comprised of our clergy and two staff members. We want to make sure we can connect to support our parishioners in any time of need.

This is a gentle reminder to please wear your name tags when you come to church. Grace & Holy Trinity is fortunate to have visitors and new parishioners joining us each week. Wearing your nametag is an important part of our hospitality to all and a visible reminder to newcomers and lifelong members alike that we are an open and welcoming community. Please pick up your name tags along the wall in the hallway as you enter from the Cherry Street parking lot, and please leave them there when you leave church. If you need a name tag for the first time or if you have misplaced yours, please contact Communications Associate Tyler Brady by visiting ghtc.org/contact.
Beware of Phishing & Other Scams
Please beware of any communication (email, phone calls, texts) purporting to be from members of our clergy, staff, or someone communicating on our behalf. No member of the Grace & Holy Trinity clergy or staff will ever contact you asking you “for a favor,” such as purchasing gift cards. Scammers use these tactics and are more common than you might think. Please be cautious and use good judgment.

Get Involved with The Pace Center this Semester
The Pace Center, our covenant partner for campus ministry, is an inclusive, multicultural community at VCU where students’ unique stories and gifts are valued. As a collaborative ministry of several Christian denominations, it emphasizes the importance of deep relationships and the inherent value of each individual. The Pace Center appreciates donations of snacks, baked goods, and soup. You can sign up here. In addition to food donations, The Pace Center welcomes and invites GHTC parishioners to participate in any (or all) of the following:
- Stories & Lunch | Wednesdays at 12:00 p.m.; Share in a meal and a common
story theme. - Volunteer at Belmont Community Resource Services | Fridays from 9:00 p.m.–
12:00 p.m.; Meet at Pace (700 W. Franklin Street) and join a group of students volunteering at BCRS (a 17-minute drive from campus). Belmont serves over 500 families on Friday mornings. Please note that this event takes place outdoors (rain or shine!); dress accordingly. - Walk A Dog | Fridays at 2:00 p.m.; Make new friends while walking dogs together. Bring your dog with you, or just show up for a nice walk with college-aged students
- Strings N Things (Crochet & Knitting) | Fridays from 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.; Bring your fiber arts project, or learn a new craft. Beginners (and experts willing to teach) welcome!
