Highlights
Holy Week through Easter 2026 – Maundy Thursday through Easter Sunday
Maundy Thursday (Last Supper): On Thursday evening, April 2nd, we invite you to gather around our table as Jesus did with his disciples. Our 7:00 p.m. worship service will begin with reflection, prayers, and music. The service ends with the stripping of the altar, as our sacred space is cleared of ornate items on the pulpit, lectern and altar.
Good Friday (Death): On Friday, April 3rd at noon*, we will move together through the liturgy of how Jesus’ love was poured out on the hard wood of the cross. We will end our worship by reverencing the cross. Then all are invited to walk the Stations of the Cross together in Monroe Park at 1:00 p.m. *There will be no Red Door Prayer Service at 12:40 p.m.
The Great Vigil (Resurrection) on Saturday, April 4th at 7:00 p.m., gathers us in darkness before lighting a new fire as we remember that it is only by the light of Christ that death and darkness is defeated. The paschal candle is lit and candlelight takes us through the liturgy. This service moves from darkness (death) to new light (life). Please bring bells to ring during The First Eucharist of Easter.
The Easter Celebrations continue into Sunday morning, April 5th, with the first service with a baptism at 9:00 a.m., a family service at 11:00 a.m, and the Easter Egg Hunt at 12:30 p.m. in Monroe Park. Please bring flowers and greenery for The Flowering of the Cross. There will be no Parish Breakfast or formation. A coffee hour will take place in Monroe Park after each service.
Childcare During Holy Week & Easter
On Maundy Thursday, April 2nd, and on Saturday, April 4th, the nursery will be open starting at 6:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 5th, the nursery will be open starting at 8:30 a.m. Please pick up your children from the nursery following 11:00 a.m. worship. There will be no Sunday School on Easter Sunday.
Parking on Easter Sunday
As usual, parking will be available behind the church in our GHTC lot and in the VCU W. Main Street Parking Deck using the QR code from the Sunday bulletin or the parking card from our Connect Tables. The VCU Parking Deck will have attendees and these attendees will be told about the GHTC QR code for free Sunday parking. Take your bulletin with you.

Church Listening Sessions
Beloved GHTC fellow parishioners, we have asked ourselves discerning questions during the last seven years: Who are we? What is important to us? How do we serve Christ and our neighbors? How do we serve each other? This spring your vestry will be hosting a few Listening Sessions to address some of those questions again.
We also will be looking ahead, asking questions like: What do we look like in 2026? Are we going in the right direction? If so, do we have a plan to get there? One road map for future progress is by updating our GHTC mission statement. We would like your thoughts and feelings about these inquiries. We will be coming together at different times to listen to each other. The three meeting days are:
- Sunday, April 12th at 9:30 a.m. during the Adult Forum and again at 12:00 p.m. both in the First Floor Classroom and Library.
- Monday, April 20th at 4:00 p.m. at Westminster Canterbury as part of the scheduled Happy Hour.
- Sunday, May 17th at 9:30 a.m. during the Adult Forum.
Please come and join the vestry for this process. You can come to all sessions or one. If you have any questions please contact Senior Warden Lisa Dawson by visiting ghtc.org/contact and selecting “Senior Warden” from the form’s drop-down menu. Thank you for being a part of listening.
Connecting Hearing Aids to the Audio System
We want you to hear every word of worship. Our new livestream system uses the Williams AV Receiver to connect hearing aids and headphones in one of three simple ways described here.

Please Wear Your Name Tags
This is a gentle reminder to please wear your name tags when you come to church. Grace & Holy Trinity is fortunate to have visitors and new parishioners joining us each week. Wearing your nametag is an important part of our hospitality to all and a visible reminder to newcomers and lifelong members alike that we are an open and welcoming community. Please pick up your name tags along the wall in the hallway as you enter from the Cherry Street parking lot, and please leave them there when you leave church. Scammers use these tactics and are more common than you might think. Please be cautious and use good judgment.
