Reminder: Black Restaurant Week Event in Monroe Park – This Sunday, March 8
The Richmond Black Restaurant Experience, a celebratory week dedicated to supporting Richmond’s black-owned restaurants and promoting the Richmond region, will begin this Sunday, March 8th with a large event, Mobile Soul Sunday, in Monroe Park at 1:00 p.m. Set up for the event will begin in the morning. This will cause some alternate traffic routes, road closures including North Laurel Street, and possible delays getting to and from the church. Thank you for understanding.
God and the Arts: Painting with Suzanne Williams – This Sunday, March 8 at 9:30 a.m.
This Lent we will be exploring the intersection of God and the arts with artists answering the question, “Where do you see God in your art?” This Sunday, March 8th, Suzanne Williams shares about the art of painting in the First Floor Classroom at 9:30 a.m. Pick up a brochure with each week’s details on the Connect Tables and mark your calendars for:

Come Walk the New Labyrinth During Lent – Wednesdays at 11:30 a.m.
The new prayer labyrinth will be available to use every Wednesday in Lent from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Come and take some time to walk the labyrinth, meditate, and reflect. We will provide resources to guide your time of prayer. There will be coffee and muffins.
Compline Service – Thursday, March 19 at 7:00 p.m.
On Thursday, March 19th, GHTC will hold a compline service containing scripture readings, psalms, confessions, hymns, and prayers for protection. It will last about 20 minutes and will be led by members of our Parish Choir. This will be a way to connect as a community towards the end of the week and experience the beauty and stillness of this service.
Come and Sing in the Compline Choir!
All are invited to join the choir that will lead music for the Compline worship service on March 19th at 7:00 p.m. The choir will rehearse the music from 7:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m. on March 5th and March 12th, in addition to rehearsal on March 19th at 6:30 p.m. in the choir room. Lent Prayer Services for Immigration Justice & Peace – Tuesdays during Lent at 12:15 p.m.
During Lent, you are invited to join our fellow Downtown Community Ministries (DCM) churches each Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. for a brief prayer service for immigration justice and peace. This service will be hosted by a rotating DCM congregation with GHTC hosting the final one on March 24th.

Easter Lily Memorials Available – Submission Deadline: Sunday, March 15 (Lent IV)
If you would like to order a lily for Easter Sunday in memory of or in thanksgiving for a beloved family member or friend, please submit your payment here, followed by submitting your memorial bulletin information at ghtc.org/easter. Financial Administrator Kathy Schultheis is available at (804) 359-5628 x14 to take payments over the phone. The cost is whatever you would like to contribute. The memorials will be printed in the Easter bulletins. The deadline to submit is next Sunday, March 15th.
Holy Week through Easter 2026 – Sunday, March 29 through Sunday, April 5
Palm Sunday on March 29th, starts the holiest week in Christianity where we journey to the Holy City with Jesus, where people laid palms down on the Jerusalem road. There are two opportunities to join the procession.

Maundy Thursday (Last Supper): On Thursday evening, April 2nd, we invite you to gather around our table as Jesus did with his disciples. Our 7:00 p.m. worship service will begin with reflection, prayers, and music. The service ends with the stripping of the altar, as our sacred space is cleared of ornate items on the pulpit, lectern and altar.
Good Friday (Death): On Friday, April 3rd at noon*, we will move together through the liturgy of how Jesus’ love was poured out on the hard wood of the cross. We will end our worship by reverencing the cross. Then all are invited to walk the Stations of the Cross together in Monroe Park at 1:00 p.m. *There will be no Red Door Prayer Service at 12:40 p.m.
The Great Vigil (Resurrection) on Saturday, April 4th at 7:00 p.m., gathers us in darkness before lighting a new fire as we remember that it is only by the light of Christ that death and darkness is defeated. The paschal candle is lit and candlelight takes us through the liturgy. This service moves from darkness (death) to new light (life). Please bring bells to ring during The First Eucharist of Easter.
The Easter Celebrations continue into Sunday morning, April 5th, with the first service at 9:00 a.m. and a family service at 11:00 a.m, and the Easter Egg Hunt at 12:30 p.m. in Monroe Park. Please bring flowers and greenery for The Flowering of the Cross. There will be a baptism at the 9:00 a.m. service. There will be no Parish Breakfast or formation.
Childcare During Holy Week & Easter
On Palm Sunday, March 29th, the nursery will be open starting at 9:00 a.m. Parents are welcome to drop off their children before joining the processional at Stuart Circle, or to bring their kids to participate in the processional. Please pick up your children from the nursery following 11:00 a.m. worship. On Maundy Thursday, April 2nd and on Saturday, April 4th, the nursery will be open starting at 6:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 5th, the nursery will be open starting at 8:30 a.m. Please pick up your children from the nursery following 11:00 a.m. worship. There will be no Sunday School on Palm Sunday or Easter Sunday.
Front Porch Forum Dinner Registration Open for Saturday, March 21
GHTC continues to offer a full course dinner before the Richmond Forum events in 2026. Sylvia May, a parishioner, choir member, and chef, along with Father Brent have planned this community building idea for utilizing our proximity to Altria Theatre. The next dinner will be three courses on Saturday, March 21st, with the remaining dinner on Saturday, April 18th. The cost is $80 per person, which will include drinks and your meal. If you need parking the cost is $100. Seating will be limited to 35–40 people. Guests will arrive at GHTC after 5:00 p.m. and dinner will begin at 5:30 p.m. Richmond Forum doors open at 7:00 p.m., so dinner will end by 7:15 p.m. Invite friends, family, and fans of the forum. Parents Night Out – Friday, March 20 at 5:00 p.m.
Our next Parents’ Night Out will be on Friday, March 20th from 5:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m. All children and youth are invited to the church for dinner, games, and a movie. The parents’ meeting location is Quirk Hotel Rooftop Bar (201 W. Broad Street). Please register your child here by Thursday, March 16th.

Middle & High School Retreat Information – Shrine Mont Camps from April 17–19
The Diocese of Virginia is planning a Middle School Weekend and a High School Leadership Summit on April 17th through April 19th at Shrine Mont Camps. The theme for the middle school weekend is “A Time to Build: My Spiritual Identity, Faith, & Friendships.” The high school summit will focus on leadership aspects like communicating across differences, confidence-building, and working as a team. The cost for the weekend is $130. Please register directly through the diocesan website, but let Madeleine know that you’ve registered so she can arrange chaperones and transportation.
Connecting Hearing Aids to the Audio System
We want you to hear every word of worship. Our new livestream system uses the Williams AV Receiver to connect hearing aids and headphones in one of these three simple ways:
- Earbuds / Headphones (For those who want to listen like a radio.)
- PLUG IN: Put your headphones into the round hole on top.
- POWER ON: Press and hold the Power button until the screen lights up.
- VOLUME: Press (+) or (–) on the side to find your comfort level.
- Neck Loop (T-Coil) (For hearing aids or cochlear implants with a “T” setting.)
- CONNECT: Plug the neck loop into the hole on top of the receiver.
- WEAR: Place the loop over your head and around your neck.
- SWITCH: Turn your hearing aid to the “T” (Telecoil) position.
- ADJUST: Use the receiver’s (+) and (–) buttons to control the signal.
- Auracast™ – Direct to You (For the newest hearing aids or smartphones with Bluetooth.)
- HEARING AIDS: Your aids may find the “Grace & Holy Trinity” stream automatically.
- SMARTPHONES: Go to your Bluetooth Settings and look for “Broadcast Audio” or “Auracast” to join the church stream directly.

Pastoral Care Phone Number
A Pastoral Care Line is now active for parishioners experiencing a pastoral emergency when the church office is closed. The on-call number is (804) 322-3758. Please save this number to your phone’s contact list. Voice and text messages can be left at this number. The pastoral care team is comprised of our clergy and two staff members. We want to make sure we can connect to support our parishioners in any time of need.

Please Wear Your Name Tags
This is a gentle reminder to please wear your name tags when you come to church. Grace & Holy Trinity is fortunate to have visitors and new parishioners joining us each week. Wearing your nametag is an important part of our hospitality to all and a visible reminder to newcomers and lifelong members alike that we are an open and welcoming community. Please pick up your name tags along the wall in the hallway as you enter from the Cherry Street parking lot, and please leave them there when you leave church. If you need a name tag for the first time or if you have misplaced yours, please contact Communications Associate Tyler Brady by visiting ghtc.org/contact.
Beware of Phishing & Other Scams
Please beware of any communication (email, phone calls, texts) purporting to be from members of our clergy, staff, or someone communicating on our behalf. No member of the Grace & Holy Trinity clergy or staff will ever contact you asking you “for a favor,” such as purchasing gift cards. Scammers use these tactics and are more common than you might think. Please be cautious and use good judgment.

Get Involved with The Pace Center this Semester
The Pace Center, our covenant partner for campus ministry, is an inclusive, multicultural community at VCU where students’ unique stories and gifts are valued. As a collaborative ministry of several Christian denominations, it emphasizes the importance of deep relationships and the inherent value of each individual. The Pace Center appreciates donations of snacks, baked goods, and soup. You can sign up here. In addition to food donations, The Pace Center welcomes and invites GHTC parishioners to participate in any (or all) of the following:

story theme. - Volunteer at Belmont Community Resource Services | Fridays from 9:00 p.m.–
12:00 p.m.; Meet at Pace (700 W. Franklin Street) and join a group of students volunteering at BCRS (a 17-minute drive from campus). Belmont serves over 500 families on Friday mornings. Please note that this event takes place outdoors (rain or shine!); dress accordingly. - Walk A Dog | Fridays at 2:00 p.m.; Make new friends while walking dogs together. Bring your dog with you, or just show up for a nice walk with college-aged students
- Strings N Things (Crochet & Knitting) | Fridays from 4:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.; Bring your fiber arts project, or learn a new craft. Beginners (and experts willing to teach) welcome!
