Annual Pledge Drive
2022 Pledge Drive
Our Annual Pledge Drive is Oct. 10 – Nov. 7, 2021.
Summer is typically a quieter time around Grace & Holy Trinity — but not this summer! It has been a busy season of preparation at the church. We expanded our staff with new full time ministers for both Children and Young Families as well as Youth and Adult Formation. Kate Given and Kyle Bomar bring new energy to these important areas. We also focused on building connections in our church community — from a Fourth of July picnic in Monroe Park to the Senior Brunch in the Parish Hall to youth gatherings. I wish to thank all the staff and volunteers who helped with the various events.
Vestry members spent time discerning our future while studying Scripture, praying, and listening to God’s call for our church. They identified four core areas of focus: worship, education, outreach, and community — all of which are grounded in Jesus’ teaching in Mark’s Gospel: “The first commandment is this: Hear, O Israel: The Lord your God is the only Lord. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:29-31
September began our fall activities with Children’s Sunday School, a revitalized Youth group, and small group Adult formation. The weekend of 9/11 brought students and music lovers of all ages together to celebrate Harry Thacker Burleigh, a Saint in the Episcopal Church, who broke barriers as a Black classical soloist, composer, and arranger during the early twentieth century.
These activities are taking advantage of our newly renovated second floor. Your generosity allowed us to invest $150,000 in our upstairs education space. We reimagined and reconfigured it to focus on families and youth — the future of Grace and Holy Trinity.
Thank you for your gifts to support our work this year. From October 10 – November 7, we will hold our Annual Pledge Drive. Please prayerfully consider the amount God is calling you to give in 2022 and make a pledge by November 7 using the Pledge Now button on this page. You may mail a pledge card to Judy Bowman at the church office or drop it into the offering plate on Sunday morning.
I look forward to seeing you and your family this fall and winter. Despite some COVID restrictions, we are still able to sing, pray, share, and laugh together on Sunday mornings. The two most important parts of GHTC are still here: God and one another!
With a grateful heart,
The Rev. Duane Nettles, Rector
