Our Annual Pledge is Oct. 9 – Nov. 6, 2022. Watch speeches by our members about “Why I Pledge” during the annual pledge drives and enjoy a heartfelt message from our Rector, The Rev. Duane Nettles.
Autumn is my favorite time of year. Most of us are no longer away on vacation or spending weekends at “th’ riv-ah,” and life regains a predictable rhythm. Now, we enter the season when our communities gather again and reawaken our commitments. We run into each other again at the grocery store and reconnect at school and work. We have the opportunity to see more of each other and to be together again at Grace & Holy Trinity.
Community was very much on the minds of the members of the staff last spring as we planned our program year from fall 2022 through summer 2023. Through worship, education, parish life, and outreach, we sought to create more opportunities to strengthen our relationships with one another and with God. The recent Parish Ministry Fair on September 25th, the upcoming Parish Picnic in the afternoon of October 16th at Brad Sauer’s house on the James, and the next Parents Night Out on the evening of November 11th, are all about celebrating the autumn renewal by bringing us together as a parish.
And all of the planning is paying dividends. The Parish Ministry Fair packed the parish hall and yielded more than 150 signatures from parishioners eager to participate in dozens of ministries. We have more participants in the Children and Youth Choir than we have seen in two decades. A new Children and Youth Instrumental Ensemble will first share their musical gifts on Sunday, October 30th, at the service led by the children and youth.
None of this energy could be generated without the support of your gifts of time, talent, and treasure. Your generosity with your talents and time was abundantly evident at the Ministry Fair. Now, the Annual Pledge Drive is an invitation to share the same generosity with your treasure. This year’s drive is from October 9th through November 6th.
Please consider prayerfully what God is asking you to give in 2023, and then return the enclosed pledge card by November 6th. Alternatively, you may fill out your pledge card here online. Mailed pledge cards should be addressed to Judy Bowman at the church office, or you may drop it into the offering plate on Sunday morning.
None of what we aim to accomplish in the coming year is possible without your energy and your kindness, and we remain endlessly grateful for your support.
All my best,
The Rev. Duane Nettles, Rector
