Lent at Grace & Holy Trinity

Ash Wednesday Services at 12:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Grace & Holy Trinity Church will offer two worship services on Ash Wednesday, February 14th. The first is a spoken service in the Church at 12:00 p.m., followed by a choral service in the Church at 7:00 p.m. The clergy will offer “Ashes to Go” on the VCU campus following the 12:00 p.m. service in the church.

An Invitation to a Holy Lent

Lent is upon us tomorrow. For Jesus, the forty days in the wilderness were a time to re-align himself to why God had given him life: to claim the right purpose, power, and voice God had given him. For us, the focus of Lent can create space anew for the light, and life, and love of Jesus to teem in us and through us to our desperately broken world. — Curtis Almquist, SSJE from “Brother, Give us a Word”

Daily Morning Prayer

Monday – Friday | During Lent
Thursday, February 15 – Friday, March 29
Starting Thursday, February 15th, a daily service of Morning Prayer with Holy Communion from the reserve sacrament will be held on weekdays at 8:30 a.m. in the Chapel. Each service will be led by two officiants, including one of our clergy or staff and a lay parishioner. If you would like to serve as an officiant, please sign up using the signup sheet located at the Connect Table. Training and support will be provided.

Lenten Book Discussion

Wednesdays | 9:00 am
For our Lenten observance, you are invited to join The Rev. Greg Bezilla and Director of Formation Kate Given in reading Meeting Jesus At The Table: A Lenten Study by Cynthia M. Campbell and Christine Coy Fohr. This book takes a look at the meals Jesus shared with others in the Gospels, and provides a chance to think about the importance of hospitality and community around our own tables. Copies are available for $5 and may be purchased at any point throughout Lent. Following the Lenten Daily Morning Prayer on Wednesdays, we will gather from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. following worship to discuss the ideas presented in the book.

Youth Mission Project Planning Meeting

Sunday, February 25, 2024 | 5:30 pm at church
High school age youth are invited to come together to enjoy a meal and plan their next mission project: planting a garden at Bellevue Elementary. The project will take place during Eastertide on Sunday, April 14th at 1:00 p.m

Reconciliation of a Penitent

The clergy are available for spiritual counseling and for the rite of Reconciliation. In the Episcopal tradition, Reconciliation of a Penitent (as defined in the Book of Common Prayer) “is the rite in which those who repent of their sins may confess them to God in the presence of a priest, and receive the assurance of pardon and the grace of absolution.” It is often referred to as “private confession.”
