On Saturday, October 1st, at 7:00 p.m., the RVA Art Song Series presented “Songs of the Season” in the church. The performance included art songs such as Schubert’s “Der Tod und das Mädchen,” Saint-Saëns’s “Danse Macabre,” “Herr Oluf” from Carl Loewe, Schumann’s “Belsazar,” and Schubert’s masterpiece, “Erlkonig.” Cheryl Van Ornam joined us to play Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor on the organ. We also had poetry readings from Edgar Allen Poe.
